A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun. According to religious beliefs, when Rahu and Ketu come to consume the Sun, a solar eclipse occurs. A hybrid solar eclipse occurs when the shadow of the Moon crosses the Earth and moves ahead. During that time the Sun appears like a ring for a few seconds.

This first solar eclipse of the year will not be visible in India. It will be visible from East and South Asia, Australia, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Antarctica. The hybrid solar eclipse will be visible from Western Australia from 10:29 PM to 10:35 PM EDT on April 19 (0229 to 0235 GMT on April 20), in East Timor from 11:19 PM to 11:22 PM EDT (0319 to 0322 GMT) and in Indonesia from 11:23 PM to 11:58 PM EDT (0323 to 0358 GMT). This solar eclipse will be visible only for a few seconds in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
As this solar eclipse is not visible in India, its Sutak period is not valid. The Sutak period of the solar eclipse starts 12 hours before the start time of the eclipse. Sutak period is considered an inauspicious time, so do not do any auspicious work during that time. Pregnant women, children and the elderly have to take special precautions. Eating and sleeping both are prohibited during Sutak period.
